What Happens If I Don’t Get a Dental Filling?

If you do not get a dental filling, you run the risk of creating future problems and pain. This is because the decay will continue to progress within the tooth, eating away the enamel, dentin, and potentially the pulp. When the decay progresses, you will either need a larger filling, root canal, crown, or an extraction.

How to Care For Your Mouth After Dental Fillings

No prescription is needed after having a dental filling done. If you do feel sore from the injection given, you can always use an anti-inflammatory medication, such as Advil. If your mouth continues to feel sore after a few days, please give us a call.

Is Anesthesia Given Before Dental Fillings?

Anesthesia is not always necessary for dental fillings. However, if you have a large cavity or are anxious about the procedure, the dentist may recommend that you be given anesthesia. This is usually a local anesthesia that numbs the area around the tooth using a needle.
