Overjet - AI Dental Diagnostic Tool

Overjet AI dental software is designed to enhance dental care by providing advanced diagnostic and treatment planning tools through artificial intelligence. It analyzes dental X-rays with high precision, identifying potential issues such as cavities, gum disease, and other oral health concerns more accurately and consistently than traditional methods. By providing dentists with detailed visual reports and insights, Overjet helps in making informed clinical decisions, improving treatment outcomes, and enhancing patient communication. This technology streamlines the workflow in dental practices, ensuring efficient and effective patient care while reducing the likelihood of diagnostic errors.

Bottom line: Better informed diagnostic tool to help avoid missing crucial information that can help prevent further oral disease (cavities or bone-loss) and improve overall patient oral health.

CBCT - Cone Beam 3D Imaging

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a specialized type of dental X-ray that provides three-dimensional imaging of the teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan. Unlike traditional two-dimensional dental X-rays, CBCT offers detailed cross-sectional views, allowing dentists to diagnose and plan treatments with greater precision. The benefits of CBCT include enhanced diagnostic capabilities for complex cases, such as evaluating bone density for implant placement, assessing impacted teeth, and identifying root fractures or abnormalities. Additionally, CBCT scans are quick and non-invasive, delivering comprehensive images while minimizing patient exposure to radiation. This technology significantly improves the accuracy and effectiveness of dental procedures, leading to better patient outcomes.

Bottom line: More precise and customized care for dental patients based on exact 3-D dental measurements. Surgical cases can be completed digitally, prior to actual procedure, allowing the provider more reliable information regarding anatomy and potential complications.

Dental Warranty

The Dental Warranty program is a service offered by Vida Dental to provide patients with added protection and peace of mind for their dental treatments. This program covers the cost of repairs or replacements for dental work such as crowns, bridges, implants, and fillings if they fail within a specified period due to unforeseen circumstances. By enrolling in our dental warranty program, patients can rest assured that their investment in dental care is safeguarded against unexpected issues, reducing the financial burden of additional treatments. This program also demonstrates our dental practices' commitment to quality care and patient satisfaction, fostering trust and long-term relationships with patients. Additionally, it helps encourage regular dental visits, as maintaining the warranty often requires adherence to routine check-ups and cleanings, promoting overall oral health. We offer this program at a small additional cost.

Bottom line: Dental Warranty is offered as added protection to patient treatment so that you can rest assured that if any unexpected issues occur with dental treatment, it can be re-done at no additional cost.

Fluoride Treatment

We are a fluoride practice and believe in its benefits. That is why all of our patients receive fluoride treatment every 6 months. It inhibits growth of harmful oral bacteria, minimizes cavities, and strengthens your current fillings or other restorative work. It creates a stronger outer surface of your teeth which makes it more difficult for bacteria to penetrate teeth. Apart from oral hygiene it is the best tool we have for preventing dental disease. We utilize the most advanced form of fluoride available, Cervitec F which is a combination of fluoride, CPC and chlorhexidine diacetate. It is non-toxic, non-sticky, has improved flavor and most importantly extended release of up to 3 months. Application with cotton roll isolation, dry time of 1 minute, no eating or drinking 1 hour after application. $39 present in general consent, pt. needs to opt-in or out of treatments.

Bottom line: Better flavor, non-sticky, combination treatment, extended release

Cervitec Plus

Used post SRP to cover root surfaces per quadrant. Varnish containing chlorhexidine and thymol for an effective germ control. It helps control the germs and therefore aids in control of gingivitis or inflammation in the gums. It lowers the amount of bacteria on root surfaces, acts as a desensitizer, lowers bacteria on restorations. Colorless and transparent. Non-covered benefits ADA Code 9910, $49 for full mouth (selective areas only).

Bottom line: Controls germs, lowers bacteria adhesion

ISOVAC

ISOVAC is a rubber device which makes your treatment more comfortable by helping your mouth stay open. It suctions all the water and saliva out but more importantly it minimizes humidity in the mouth and allows for a dry field which is of paramount importance when doing any kind of dentistry. Modern dental materials do not tolerate moisture. It also minimizes aerosols becoming a part of precautions due to the recent Covid Pandemic.

IDS

Not all offices perform this procedure. It is an additional step taken during crown preparation where the Doctor takes extra steps to seal the portion of the tooth which has sensitivity. It reduces post-operative sensitivity, reduces chances of cavities underneath crowns, and it strengthens the attachment of the crown to the tooth.

Desensitizer

Not all offices offer this. It is an additional step taken during fillings or crowns where the Doctor takes extra steps to desensitize the exposed portion of tooth following preparation to minimize post-operative discomfort and provide additional disinfection of the tooth prior to finishing the procedure.

Margin Elevation

Our Doctors believe that there is nothing better than to save your existing tooth for function. Extending the lifetime of the tooth places lesser expectations on our replacement options which all come with an expiration date. One of the techniques we utilize when a cavity goes deep below the gumline and close to the bony attachment is Foundation. This process allows the Doctor to artificially rebuild the tooth structure to above the gumline, which allows for the tooth to then be restored. Without this procedure the tooth would either need to be extracted or a more costly crown lengthening procedure would be required to remove the bony attachment compromising the bone architecture. In cases where cavity does not go below the gum but is extremely deep with lack of patient symptoms, this procedure can be used to possibly prevent need for Root Canal Therapy. The Doctor carefully dissects the cavitated area attempting to prevent nerve exposure, conventional and aggressive removal of cavity would typically result in root canal if this technique is not utilized. This is a specialized procedure which requires added skill, techniques, and materials not covered by insurance. Oftentimes the alternative is loss of tooth.

Advanced Adhesion

In certain instances when a Doctor can save tooth structure in the process of crown preparation, they will rely on chemical adhesion to the tooth rather than regular cement. This allows for added strength and increased longevity of your tooth for additional procedures in the future if required. The process involves an array of additional steps taken in order to adhere the crown to the tooth including rubber dam placement, chemical preparation of tooth structure, and detailed cementation. Insurances unfortunately only cover and pay for conventional cementation procedures which require increased destruction of tooth structure needed for the cement to retain the crown. This is a specialized procedure which requires added skill, techniques, and materials not covered by insurance nor included with basic crown. Insurance only covers the basics.

Oral ID

Hand held oral examination light used as an adjunctive device for oral mucosal screening. The device uses fluorescence technology and emits a visible blue light that one shines directly into the oral cavity. It aids with visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities such as oral cancer and pre-cancer. Any dark or abnormal lesions are re-assessed at 2 weeks, Cytology is performed at 2 weeks if it persists. CytID will be read by pathologist to evaluate cellular level. Non-covered benefit, $29 for 18+.

Ortho Treatment

Our practice includes a lot of added benefits when you decide to go through orthodontics with us. Our Invisalign treatment comes with digital scanning and simulation, 4 SETS of clear retainers, custom shade attachments that blend with your tooth, unlimited office visits, complimentary teeth whitening at the end of treatment, aligner “Munchies”, 1 refinement to enhance your case in case it is required. All patients have an option to upgrade to fixed/bonded retainers at additional fee or purchase Invisalign Vivera retainers.

Digital Smile Design

Digital Smile Design is one of the leading forefronts of dental technology, ensuring a dental care treatment that is best for each patient. It is a unique treatment planning tool that enhances predictability, and improves communication between us and the patient. A treatment plan is based on an analysis of the patient’s dental and facial proportions. Through the use of videos, photographs, and temporary mock-ups, DSD provides a better sense of the relationship between the lips, gums, and teeth, as well as how they work together to create the patient’s smile. We become more than just a dentist once a patient embarks on their DSD journey. We are able to offer artistic vision necessary to create beautiful smiles and become a part of patient’s emotional connection to a life changing decision. We take three-dimensional photos and videos of every angle of the mouth, digital scan is done with an intraoral scanner (no more molds taken in the mouth), and the data is imported into the DSD software. After the data is imported into the software, we will look at the digital library of various forms and shapes that can be placed over the tops of teeth. This gives a quick glimpse into what a patient can expect from the treatment, as well as gives the dental provider what is needed to create a physical model with a dental lab. The images and videos help the lab create a more realistic model, which may include facial aesthetics and other important aspects. The patient is heavily involved in the entire process from start to finish. It’s important they communicate their wants and needs to their dental smile designer. The patient has the opportunity to approve the three-dimensional model and mock-up images of what their smile will look like after the treatment is complete. The patient is in the driver’s seat when they choose DSD. We may even be able to place portions of the model in the mouth temporarily to give the patient a better idea of what teeth will look like as they speak and smile. Although other dental providers and treatment plans may use certain aspects of digital imaging or software, most don’t have access to a full solution like DSD. Therefore, the predictability element is lost because the dentist may not be able to tell you exactly what your smile will look like at the end of the procedure. Using DSD helps to remove the struggle with miscommunication or unanswered questions due to a lack of clarity.

3D Printing

Our office utilizes a 3D printer which allows us to print models for cosmetic mock-ups and temporaries. It also allows our doctors to plan many surgeries via computer software and print surgical guides and stents which make surgeries safer and more predictable. Many times, our doctors can even simulate surgeries on models prior to performing the procedure in realtime. These are just some of the benefits of using 3-D printing for patient benefit in this digital age.

In-House Laboratory

At Vida Dental, we understand the importance of quality and safety in every dental restoration and prosthesis. Did you know that the FDA does not regulate materials used in dental restorations and prosthetics like crowns, bridges, and implants? That's why we take pride in ensuring that all our restorations and prosthetics are crafted using safe, quality-assurance-checked materials made in the USA. Our in-office lab allows us to maintain strict standards of craftsmanship and reliability, ensuring that every restoration we place in your mouth meets our highest standards of excellence and patient satisfaction.

Piezo Surgery

Implant and Oral Surgery at our South Austin Location is assisted by Ultrasonic Piezo Technology. It is a minimally invasive way to perform conventional surgical procedures. It is a selective cut which is non active on fragile anatomic structures such as nerves or arteries. Studies also show that there is 50% less pain and swelling associated with use of ultrasonic piezo bone surgery which results in better healing leading to quicker recovery.

Bottom line: Minimally invasive surgery

Hygea Diode Laser

This laser delivers a very effective bactericidal action on periodontal (“gum”) pathogens and achieves it in a non-invasive way with no detectable alteration to any part of the tooth. Results will decrease gingival bleeding, decrease inflammation, decrease pocket depth and even decrease tooth mobility in certain cases. It works by specifically removing the inflamed, unhealthy soft tissue and reducing the pathogens responsible for the disease by its bactericidal and detoxifying effect. Diode laser can help fight Gingivitis in a procedure called Laser Bacterial Reduction or LBR, targeting the inflamed tissue and allowing faster/superior recovery. It can be used as an adjunct procedure in treatment of Slight-Severe Chronic Periodontitis in Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy or LAPT. It can also treat joint pain and cold sores. There is compelling research demonstrating that use of diode laser after conventional scaling and root planning (SRP) is superior to SRP alone. Treatment with a diode laser leaves gingival health more stable and results tend to last longer than when treated by conventional means. In addition, patient comfort is significantly increased in the post-operative phase.

Bottom line: Non-Invasive, more effective, more stable, longer lasting gingival results with less pain.

Subgingival Oral Irrigation

Professional subgingival oral irrigation is the in-office antimicrobial flushing of pockets performed by the dental hygienist with a blunt-tipped irrigating cannula that is attached to a handheld syringe. Subgingival oral irrigation can be very beneficial in helping to achieve stability for moderate to advanced periodontal disease. Oral irrigation is an extremely safe and effective way to flush out bacteria and other toxins trapped underneath the gum line. Subgingival irrigation with 3% H2O2 produces a significant reduction in gingival bleeding, probing depth reduction, inflammation control, and a gain in relative attachment levels.

Bottom line: Non-invasive antimicrobial flush below the gums to control bacterial growth.
